Enjoy Gothenburg for a while

Gothenburg has a lot to offer, from vibrant nightlife to relaxation close to nature or the sea. There are also plenty of opportunities for shopping, cultural events and eating well at one of the city’s renowned restaurants.

Since the 1990s, the city has invested in increasing the number of visitors by becoming a so-called event city. The Swedish Fair organizes many large fairs, conventions and conferences. Liseberg, which is next door to the Swedish Exhibition Center, is the Nordic region’s largest amusement park. The summer season runs from the end of April to the middle of October and Liseberg is Sweden’s largest tourist destination.

And Gothenburg can now add another sustainability award to its list of accolades. Lonely Planet unveiled its Best in Travel 2021 list today, naming Gothenburg the world’s Best Sustainable City Stay. The Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDSI) has previously ranked Gothenburg as the world’s most sustainable destination for the last four years. So, take the opportunity to enjoy Gothenburg, whether you prefer the vibrant nightlife, or to relax in one of the city’s many parks.
